Inspired by and in collaboration with Fibershed, an international network founded by Rebecca Burgess, the Field School was a proposition to go places, meet people, and learn about regional and regenerative fibre systems. In the Fibre Stories publication and podcast we share stories about Fibreshed Field School, our local fibreshed, regional textiles, industry, education, soil and the tensions that arise when we examine fibre and cloth through the lens of sustainability and decolonization.
In this publication, our team meticulously curated stories from its participants and engaged with local individuals deeply involved in fibre-related work within our region. The result is a heartfelt exploration that embraces the significance of fibres, sustainability, and place, all within the context of the traditional territories of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam) Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish) and səl̓ilw̓ətaʔɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) nations.
⚫
With great attention to detail, "Fibre Stories" is presented in a limited edition of 110 handcrafted copies. Each copy showcases riso prints of fiber samples, and embroidered QR codes, offering a tangible testament to the passion and dedication invested in this project.
